PARAM ANANTA Supercomputer

PARAM Ananta Supercomputer was commissioned in May 2022 at IIT Gandhinagar under the National Supercomputing Mission coordinated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The installation and commissioning of the facility was done by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in coordination with IIT Gandhinagar. The facility consists of 7408 CPU cores and 12 NVIDIA V100 GPU cards. Further, PARAM Ananta is equipped with 52TiB of RAM and 1PiB of usable SAN storage space. The peak performance of PARAM Ananta Supercomputer is 838 TF.

IITGN users may please fill-up the Circulated Form and get ink recommendation from your reporting officer. Thereafter please scan the signed form and please send it to anantasupport@iitgn.ac.in with a copy to your supervisor.

Also for any issue, please raise a support ticket at https://paramananta.iitgn.ac.in/support and the concerned team will respond at the earliest.

The quota for each user is 100 GB in home directory. There is no per-user limit for the scratch folder.

The SLURM scheduler will automatically find the required number of processing cores from nodes (even if a node is partially used). Please do not explicitly specify the node number/number of nodes in the script. A priority based queueing system is implemented so that all users get a fair share of available resources. The priority will be decided on multiple factors including job size, queue priority, past and present usage, time spent on queue etc.

It is strongly recommended that users backup their files-folders periodically, as Supercomputer Team will not be having a mechanism to backup users’ data.

Users are strictly NOT ALLOWED to run any jobs on the Master Nodes or any other node in an interactive manner. Users must run jobs only using the scripts through the job scheduler.
